Who makes it
Bloc Focus is made by ikibook studio, an independent publisher on Google Play. You can see everything we publish on our developer page. We describe what we make in one line there, and it is the same rule this site follows: quiet software that respects your attention — no ads, no accounts, and nothing that interrupts you while you are working.
What Bloc Focus is
A session timer with instrumental music built in. You pick a ratio — 25/5, 50/10 or longer — and a mood, and the music plays through the work block and the break. It is not a medical device and makes no claim to treat or improve any condition.
Why it has no ads and no accounts
A focus app that interrupts you to show an ad is working against the one thing it is for. An account adds a sign-in screen between you and the first minute of work, and a database of people who did not need to be in one. So the app has neither. What it does send — a few anonymous product events — is listed one by one in the privacy policy, rather than summarised.
How the music is made
- The music is AI-generated, instrumental, and licensed for commercial use. We say so here, on the store listing, and on every article on this site.
- Every streamed track is mastered to the same loudness, so moving from one track to the next never makes you reach for the volume.
- The four moods — lofi, ambient, rain, instrumental — are separated by measurement of the audio itself, not by tags, and each track belongs to exactly one mood.
- The catalogue is a few hundred tracks and grows without an app update; the articles on this site do the arithmetic of how much music a long session actually needs.
